Our History
The Doyle® Tools story begins in 1989, when founder John Doyle set out on a mission. As a third generation tradesman and lifelong tool enthusiast, John saw a need in the market for high-quality tools that didn’t cost a fortune. He believed that just because you’re on a budget, doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice performance and durability.
So with nothing more than passion, grit, and a small loan, John started Doyle® Tools out of his garage workshop. He began designing and manufacturing his own line of professional-grade hand tools, with a focus on functionality, reliability, and affordability above all else.
Word spread quickly among John’s network of fellow tradesmen about these new tools that rivaled the top brands in quality but cost a fraction of the price. It wasn’t long before Doyle® Tools became their go-to source for everything from wrenches and sockets, to pliers and screwdrivers.
Expanding the Lineup
Buoyed by this early success, John expanded the Doyle® lineup to include power tools, specialty plumbing tools, shop equipment, and more. He formed relationships with top manufacturers around the world to source quality materials and components. By partnering strategically with these suppliers, John was able to keep costs down without ever compromising on quality.
Within 5 years, Doyle® Tools had become one of the fastest-growing brands in the tool industry. To keep up with demand, we moved out of John’s garage into a small warehouse, then quickly upgraded to a larger manufacturing facility. With each expansion, we added expert staff and upgraded our technology and production capabilities.
While the company grew rapidly, John never lost sight of his original vision: providing serious tools for serious value to all tradespeople. This guiding philosophy continues to shape the Doyle® brand to this day.
Our Facility
Today, Doyle® Tools operates out of a state-of-the-art 120,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution center located in Akron, Ohio.
We maintain a dedicated team of engineers, machinists, quality control specialists and assembly technicians. Together, they ensure every product bearing the Doyle® name upholds our stringent standards for performance, reliability and durability.
Our facility houses an extensive product testing lab where our tools undergo rigorous trials to guarantee they can withstand the toughest job site environments. We abuse them, drop them, leave them out in the elements – if a tool can survive our lab, it’s ready to join the Doyle® lineup.
Investing in Technology
Over the years, we’ve made significant investments in cutting-edge manufacturing technology like CNC machining and robotic automation. This has increased our efficiency and output dramatically while enabling very tight quality control over every stage of production.
